TIMELINE OF EVENTS
SPRING IN 2,701 (Mar, Apr, May) |
- MARCH - Gwen is happy to see Faolan alive again. Faolan spends most of the month hiding from the cold under Lancelot's charmed blankets with Bridei, and feeling guilty he won't let him light a fire.
- APRIL - Faolan starts to hear harp-playing everywhere, both in and out of his dreams, and his emotions go off of the charts. He resents harps, and he resents what they mean to him. He would never destroy an instrument in or out of his dreams however so he will be affected the whole month. There are significant interactions with Lancelot and Guinevere during this event.
- MAY - Faolan accompanies Lancelot on the first of his many Public Relations trips, this time to Parrais.
|
SUMMER IN 2,701 (Jun, Jul, Aug) |
- JUNE - As of the month before, the lockets and the fairy rings do not work, and as such, communication with agents stationed out in cities has become a challenge. Lancelot assigns Faolan the task of traveling to them and communicating in person, since it is easier for him to travel around than most others these days, being shardless. He starts out with Treun, where he participates in the Melee competition of the Tourney and is bested by Connor early in the running. Lancelot is there to soothe his bruised ego. Also at the Tourney he speaks to Aragorn, Lucrezia, and Natasha. He also meets with the agent in Treun before continuing on his mission south to Leathann, where there is no agent stationed, but he spends a while investigating in their stead.
- JULY - From Leathann Faolan does a massive traveling loop back up to Parrais on his mission for Lancelot to meet with the agent stationed there. And from there he goes on to Doanna for the final stop in his journey, where he discovers that there is some unrest after the hangings that take place there. He speaks to Diarmuid and they exchange information, before he returns to Caer Glaem to share his findings with Lancelot. (All throughout the mission he has been checking in here and there, to let him know that he's alive, and because Bridei misses him.)
- AUGUST -Faolan accompanies Lancelot to Leathann for more Public Relations on behalf of the Seelie court, and tries desperately not to be in the way during the Festival of Lights. While he's there, he takes some time to investigate this new Oracle (and possibly work on establishing a new agent in the city?).
|
FALL IN 2,701 (Sept, Oct, Nov) |
- SEPTEMBER - Faolan returns with Lancelot to Parrais for more Public Relations touring.
- OCTOBER - On the 25th of October, the Drabwurld celebrates Samhain once more. Faolan attends, and reminisces about last year with Lancelot. He spends less time brooding than he did last year, and even accepts a few dances, including one with Gwen.
- NOVEMBER - Faolan spends much of the month on regular duties. When word of the escaped convicts from the prison colony in Leathann reaches Caer Glaem, it makes him uneasy - are any of these people a threat to Caer Glaem itself?
|
WINTER IN 2,701/2,702 (Dec, Jan, Feb) |
- DECEMBER - Having won the Hunt last year, Lancelot will apparently get it into his mind that he doesn't need to take it seriously this year, thereby ending up getting himself cursed into becoming an animal this go around. An otter, to be exact. Faolan must then watch over him, Lady, and Bridei the three of them for the next few days until Lancelot is himself once more. Any gifts he receives for Yule he struggles to return in kind, even if his own gifts by comparison are likely not as fancy or expensive as those that are given to him.
- JANUARY - Faolan accompanies Lancelot back to Treun once more for more Public Relations touring on behalf of the Seelie court. He checks in with the agent stationed there, and puts out feelers as to what might be going on with the Fortuna family, after the Governor was forced to abdicate his position. (The 26th marks Faolan's return from death, an event that is possibly worth celebrating?)
- FEBRUARY - Faolan travels with Lancelot back to Leathann again for another Public Relations visit on behalf of the Seelie court. (If he has established an agent in Leathann at this point he will check in with them.) Also during this month, on the 14th, Bridei turns one year old.
|
SPRING IN 2,702 (Mar, Apr) |
- MARCH - Faolan joins Lancelot and all others defending Caer Glaem by decapitating the skeletons of the risen dead, and is largely unsettled by their appearance.
- APRIL - Fairies start to go missing from Caer Glaem, leaving everyday tasks unfinished. Faolan knows how to make do without them, although it is an inconvenience in certain aspects. This too is concerning, however, and he wonders what it could mean going forward...

DECEMBER 2701
Yule
It takes a little time to have everything made up, but Lancelot slowly collects together what he needs and cautiously sets it out for Faolan in his room on one of the few moments the two are apart.
A neat box contains a new set of leathers, made in dark colours the same as Faolan's own have always been, but in amongst the leathers are a few other things. A thick riding cloak with a metal clasp to fasten it, and on closer inspection the clasp has a carving of sorts. A wolf sat by a harp. A pair of bracers hold the same design, and off to one side is a new set of riding tack. The side of the saddle has it carefully embossed too, and the reins equally on decorative studs.
A folded letter from Lancelot accompanies, neatly sealed with wax.
Faolan,
I hope you will not think this bold of me. The past should not shadow you so now. Embrace who you are, and equally who you wish to be.
This land gives us the chance to be more than we were, to change the shape of our fates.
You may never truly be the same man you were, but you can be something else. Faolan the bard and Faolan the assassin have the same heart.

It's during one of these latter occasions that Lancelot surprises him. As Faolan returns to his room, he's taken aback by the near mountain (by his standards at least) of things there waiting for him. What can fit in boxes has been skillfully packaged as such, but some items - a saddle? - are too large for such things and as such are just neatly set to the side of it instead. Faolan steps up and runs a hand across the saddle, noticing the symbol embossed on the leather. A wolf sat by a harp. Even before he has opened the accompanying letter, he knows exactly who these gifts are from.
Faolan sits on the edge of his bed, the letter in hand, reading it over carefully, once, twice. He sits forward and opens the box to find inside it a new set of leathers - newer and nicer than the set he's got on now - and a cloak. A cloak with a clasp of the same design, and bracers to match.
Faolan the bard and Faolan the assassin have the same heart, the letter says, and Faolan swallows, hard, running his thumb over the clasp in his hands, staring down at the design of it. Lancelot may have given him a heap of gifts, but the most precious one of all is this, that goes without question. Perhaps it required no thought at all, the creation of such a design. But the idea that he should do such a thing in the first place, and then have all of these things embossed for him as well... The thought that he should care about him enough to make such a gesture on his behalf...
I hope you will not think this bold of me. Quite the contrary, in fact. To think that Lancelot should make such an effort on his account. It brings to mind all of the reasons that Lancelot has become so dear to him in the first. His unwavering trust and belief in Faolan, even despite Faolan's own difficulty believing in himself. The gentle support and reassurance that he offers. He has given Faolan hope and faith, not only engraved in the dagger he now wears at his belt, not only here with this symbol - created just for him, which he shall treasure for as long as he lives. It may come as easy as drawing breath to Lancelot, such kindness, such generosity, such a gesture as this. But to a man like Faolan, it means everything.
And he has absolutely no idea what to do about that.
sometime near Yule
To most, anyway.
To others, such as those who may or may not be wherever it is in the Citadel that Lancelot and his strange little family dwells, well, they're about to meet him again, just not in such an obvious form. Someone does go on ahead of him, however, one of the guards or servants who works at the Citadel.
There's a message that someone is here to drop something off, but he's waiting out in a more common area instead of opting to wander lost and aimless. ]
SORRY FOR MY SLOW I AM SO READY FOR THIS THOUGH!!!
IT'S FINE DO NOT WORRY
Yeah, walls. Look, the inside architecture hasn't lost its novelty yet.
Though when Faolan shows up, he'll turn to look, then grin and raise an arm in greeting. ]
Faolan! Hello again!
TY!!!!
Hello. [He says cautiously, as he approaches the unknown man and his rather bulky sack carrying the gods only knew at this point.] I apologize, I do not recognize your face. You say that we have met before? [Perhaps the voice does sound a bit familiar. But Faolan cannot place it for anything. It's always worth asking, at least. Faolan knows he is good enough with faces that it must have been a very brief encounter indeed, if he cannot recall it himself.]

[ It doesn't take more than a few seconds for what's wrong to dawn on Draco, though during those
seconds he does raise his eyebrows at not being recognized, but of course, of course. He's only been encountered as a dragon, not as a human. ]
I was forgetting about that part. I would change into what you are more used to, but I fear it might get rather crowded in here if I did. [ He lifts the bag off the ground and shoulders it first, then gives the man a more definite answer. ] I am Draco. You might remember me from your very ill-advised flight to the Station.
no subject
Draco. [Faolan repeats.] You. Will forgive me for not recognizing you. [He believes he is who he says, whoever. Not many outside of Lancelot and Draco himself know of that flight, after all. Faolan has worked hard to make certain of that. It was not one of his finer moments.] I was told that you had something for me? [Or perhaps not him specifically, perhaps for Lancelot, but he's not going to get into semantics right now.]
no subject
[ One can't expect to be recognized when you change your shape so dramatically, even Draco knows that.
As for what he has brought, he steps forward to cross what distance there might be between the two of them, now that any surprise is out of the way, and pulls the bag back down off his shoulder to open it. To anyone else, it might only look like a pile of junk, but there's certainly some treasure in there alongside it. Random pits and pieces of golden trinkets and gems and other objects, all sharing a certain level of shininess. ]
I do! A Yule gift, for the lad. [ He won't mention Bridei by name, expecting Faolan to figure out who he means. ] Well, gifts, but it all goes together.
[ Kind of. Look, it's a dragon thing, okay? ]
I AM SO SORRY FOR HOW LATE THIS IS work is terrible and then i accidentally cleared my inbox :(
[He straightens, glancing across at him, eyebrows still raised. He's trying to understand dragons, Draco, he's really trying. Having Bridei around certainly does help.] It's certainly a generous present for one so small as he. Though I wonder if I'm going to be able to carry the bag up to the rooms, in the end.
[Faolan is a small man, and while athletic, not terribly strong. Even he can admit to the obvious.]
no subject
[ He announces that with gusto, slinging the bag back around onto his shoulder while saying so. The concept of giving gifts and actually being able to do so, well, he might be a little over-jovial about it all. ]
It is no problem, surely.
no subject
Not at all. Come on then. [He glances around, before turning on his heel and indicating that the other should follow him up the Keep, towards his and Lancelot's joined rooms, where Bridei is waiting.] How long has it been since you've last seen him, then?
[There's a point to this question - Faolan's never seen the pair of them together, after all, but moreso than that, he needs to know if Draco knows about Bridei's own shapeshifting abilities, for that matter.]
no subject
[ Since he nearly killed a bunch of guards and took off into self-imposed hiding. It's taken months to convince himself to reconnect with the rest of the Seelie and Bridei just happened to be the best starting place. But! That isn't something for light conversation, so he won't mention it, content to just follow along after Faolan to the rooms.
At the very least, with his own shapeshifting having been inspired by the magic of the native dragons, that wont be too much of a shock. Well, mostly. That they can do such a thing so young... ]
Has he been well? Have you? And Lancelot?
no subject
As they reach the door, Faolan nods to the pair of guards before reaching for the handle on the large ebony doors and pushing it open. Across the room, there sits a little boy and a dog, not far from where Faolan had left them. Inside Lady's dog bed, but let's not get into that - Bridei likes to explore, and as long as he's not scaling the curtains or putting rocks in his mouth, Faolan lets him, for the most part. Upon seeing Faolan, a smile spreads across his face and little hands reach up, indicating that if Faolan doesn't come and pick him up, and soon, then there will be consequences. So Faolan does, scooping the little boy up in his arms and turning towards the man standing in the entry, as the guards close the door behind them.]
Bridei, this is Draco. Draco, Bridei. I am told you have met before. [He glances at Draco himself, taking in his expression and wondering how much of a surprise this will be for both of them. They have schooled Bridei to be generally wary around strangers, after all.]
