The Ballad of Lady Brave

There was a dog named Lady Brave
Adoring, tried, and true.
A tribute to her name she was -
Devout companion too.

A gift she was, one fateful day,
A booning from the queen,
Presented to her favorite knight
Our Lady Brave had been.

The Shining Knight, it soon was clear
of dogs he little knew
But Lady was a goodly lass
And worries soon were few.

A tiny spotted pup was she,
All mottled brown and white.
And yet behind her eyes was lit
A deep and clever light.

The Shining Knight, it's sad to say
He quickly did despair,
For though he may be good at most
At names is where he errs.

But Lady was a lady true,
This quickly became clear,
And so the first part of her name,
It quickly did appear.

The second part, now what of that
I'm sure that you will say
To which of course I'll answer you
Our Lady saved the day.

For once there was a time when she
Was called upon to act
In trouble was our Shining Knight
And Lady got him back.

If you should chance to happen by
The Castle or the Keep,
You'll catch a glimpse of Lady Brave
At play or fast asleep.

For heroing, it has its times,
And so too time for fun,
And with no dangers lurking near
Instead the play's begun.

For Lady Brave, she loves her toys
To fetch and chase and run.
And selfsame dog, who knighted was,
Likes napping in the sun.

And though the time should pass, I think
The same good dog she'll be
At play, at work, asleep, on guard
Our brave and fair Lady.
