"There was a perfect image of Faolan in her mind, correct in every detail: his strength, his kindness, his courage. His reticence; his wariness. Those things were the essence of the man."Faolan is complicated a man - once a musician, he became a hunter. There are many facets to what make him unique as an individual. He has been hurt in the past, by outsiders and by the people he loves, and that makes him shuttered. It isn't just his career but his life experiences that have done this. He believes himself unworthy of friendship, the heart of this being his guilt for not being able to save his family or his sister. He has never gone back to where his family lived, he has never tried to find out about his sister despite the fact that it has been over a decade since the trauma of his past now. He's been beaten down and his previous failures to them are all the proof that he needs. He takes pride in what he does and he is good at it. He may look down on his job itself, seeing it as dark and dirty at times, but he's good at it, and is recognized for that. He has a sense of duty about him all his own - his own man, he has a way of doing things that some may call reckless at times. Because he was only 18 when the trauma with his family went down, he has been making his own way in the world for a long time, and has learned to make do on his own. He is highly capable across a variety of tasks, yet he's not cocky about it. Just self-confident, having had to be self-reliant for so long. He can roll with the punches, because as he puts it, "he had learned early that alongside the stunning blows fate could deliver, the practical matters of day-to-day life were trivial." His job is his purpose. At times he pushes himself too hard and there is cause to remind him that he is only human. He does not like to demonstrate weakness. But underneath it all, there is still a musician with a musician's heart and soul, although he tries hard to bury it, for if he touches on that part of himself he is liable to break down. It brings back memories of a life he used to know but can no longer have, and is a weakness that he cannot afford. He has a quick and witty, although somewhat bitter humor. He likes to make sarcastic comments in regards to his surroundings and especially in response to the people he's talking to, and often says more than he should, coming to regret it later. He holds a lot back inside, but when pushed to breaking exhibits a fiery passion and temper to rival all else. He does not think much of himself, but at the same time he will fight to the bitter end to achieve his goals. inventory.

Faolan grew up in a family of hunters, however his parents and older brother tried hard to keep the secret from him and his sisters so that they could live a "normal" life. Faolan grew up a happy child in Northern Ireland, without any troubles or concerns. He showed a talent for music and as such his parents allowed him to pursue it rather than his family's more traditional areas. While Faolan was off studying, the family got more and more heavily involved in dangerous dealings with a certain vampire clan in the area. His father made a judgement call and killed a vampire from the clan that had committed a crime that the vampires did not see as such. It set off a series of attacks aimed towards Faolan's father and those around him. By the time that he returned home from university, Faolan's family was well-entrenched in danger. It was only then that he learned of their dealings and, having no skills that might be of use, was helpless to try and keep them safe. The exchange between the vampires and the family went on for a while longer, a hunt here, an attack made on the family there, until one night they forced their way into his family's home, be-spelling his youngest sister to give them passage. They slaughtered every soul in the house, save for Faolan and the youngest sister, the only two who had not raised hand against them. Yet they took her with them as assurance that he would behave. Faolan, in his anger, gathered himself in retaliation against them. He would avenge his family, he would save his sister from them, and he would seek vengeance. But he had not trained in combat, he played the guitar. And so they beat him within an inch of his life, and turned his sister into one of them as penance. Faolan spends the next month in a medically induced coma to reduce the swelling in his brain, and the month after that in hospital recovering enough to be deemed fit enough to leave. Faolan recognizes from there that there's nothing more that he can do. His sister is lost to him - she may not even have survived the transformation, and if she did, she most assuredly hates him for failing her. Failing their family. Not being strong enough. The monsters have taken from him everything he held most dear. And while he cannot seek vengeance for his family, he can seek vengeance for all others that have been wronged. So he becomes a hunter himself, and a good one at that. A Private Investigator and Hunter for Hire. Finding that despite himself, he enjoys the work. Enjoys the challenge of it. And enjoys the thrill of the hunt. Sometimes perhaps a little too much... tracking.
