QUEST BOARD

Faolan is ranked at five stars. A former member of the Unseelie court, Faolan is now shardless, and has sworn his allegiances to Lancelot and therefore the Seelie court itself. He has been named the Seelie Marshall's Hound and more recently, Sunlight's Shadow, as well as Spymaster of Caer Glaem. Because of his position not only as Lancelot's bodyguard and right hand man but also as Spymaster, Faolan's quests revolve around a similar theme of spying for the Seelie court and serving Lancelot (and Faolan's needs as they pertain to him, for that matter). PLEASE NOTE: as a shardless character, Faolan can assign quests to characters in either court with no court consequences on either side.

INVENTORY/BOONS

INVENTORY

ARRIVAL INVENTORY
  • shirt, tunic (x2), trousers, heavy cloak, riding boots, belt.
  • traveling pack: waterskin, packet of dried meat, extra shirt and trousers, flint, kindling, wool blanket.
  • 2 small knives

  • BOONS
  • a rolled-leather case of assassin's tools: stiletto knives, garrote wire, fine vials and sachets of poisons, darts, and more. They roll so neatly in their leather case that one might imagine it's an artist or scribe's kit - if the brass latches of the pack are hooked after a certain fashion, it will become invisible to all senses but touch- and that by feel alone can the latches be undone, the tools again revealed.
  • a small stud earring with a pearl of black metal which allows him to teleport between the gardens of Caer Glaem and Caer Scima when he wears it.
  • a plain white bone ring, which will allow him to teleport within Dorchadas... but only during nights! - also a Yule-red cloak and a holly cloakpin.

  • MISC
  • a simple iron band that lets the wearer and a body they touch become as phantasms, passing through wood and stone like air; from Celegorm
  • his druid costume from Samhain
  • a golden ring emblazoned with the symbol of a dagger trapped in a sun that will allow him to requisition unparalleled aid of Seelie-aligned NPCs, and to gain automatic command of Seelie troops and soldiers when there is no higher-ranking PC present; from Solais
  • a dagger strong enough to survive shard magic; touching the blade itself will prove it cold, enchanted with ice; it has the word hope inscribed on one side, and faith on the other; from Lancelot
  • a palm-sized glass orb that will give illumination visible only to him - good for three uses at most, then must be recharged by a magic user; from the Brucolac
  • a small carven white stone the size and shape of a die, blessed by a moon-shrine - "for luck, when he walks in the dark with monsters"; from the Brucolac
  • undetermined amount of money for helping him to rescue Lady and slay the Hart; from Lancelot

    brainstorming

[From an excerpt of Faolan's notes to himself, this particular scrap brainstorming on the topic of his newly official role as the Seelie Marshall's personal bodyguard/spy/whatever else his role entails. Written in Faolan's usual neat, scrolling Celtic hand:]

  • signs his name and title on letters that (apology or not) might come back to bite him later
  • willingly throws himself into almost any danger put before him - especially if it is requested of him - without a thought
  • invites anyone asking for private conversation back to his quarters, regardless of whether he knows them to be trustworthy or not, thus showing them where he sleeps (even despite those magic doors this is a horrible idea)
  • takes everything far too personally for his own good

ALTHOUGH: he seems entirely capable with his shard and sword work, and he has survived all battles thus far at least

HOW TO PROPERLY GUARD a man like this?
  • already has guards posted at his door - more guards won't help any anyway
  • most of these problems require a more personal approach - must think of something myself
  • a boon?
